The San Diego City Council is the legislative branch of government for the city of San Diego, California.
It is responsible for adopting the city budget, approving mayoral appointees, levying taxes, and making or amending city laws, policies, and ordinances.
The San Diego City Council is made up of nine members, each of whom are elected by the city’s nine districts.
