A community plan is a public document that contains specific proposals for future land uses and public improvements in a given community. A community plan is part of the City’s  General Plan. Typical elements in a community plan include Land Use, Transportation, Urban Design, Public Facilities and Services, Natural and Cultural Resources, and Economic Development. A community plan is developed through a partnership of the recognized Community Planning Group, the public, and City staff, working together to identify land use policies and recommendations to guide the community’s future development.

Barrio Logan comprises approximately 1,000 acres south of Downtown San Diego. The Port of San Diego and Naval Station San Diego cover more than half of the land area contained within the community planning area. Barrio Logan is one of the oldest and most culturally rich urban neighborhoods in San Diego.
