Our community elects five Board members who serve four-year terms. The Board members are responsible for the overall operation of the school district. Among its duties, the Board adopts an annual budget, approves all expenditures, establishes policies and regulations, authorizes employment of all personnel, approves curriculum and textbooks, and appoints the Superintendent.
Regular meetings of the board are normally held at 6:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month in the Board Room of the District Administration Center, 1500 N Avenue. All Regular Board meetings are open to the public.

National School District (NSD) is a hidden gem located just five miles from downtown San Diego, between the I-5 and I-805 freeways. We serve the City of National City 91950, as well as some areas of San Diego proper. Home to approximately 4,500 students, from preschool through sixth grade, National School District has ten exceptional elementary school sites and preschool center. All schools in National School District have been awarded Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) recognition from the state of California for the sustainable development of a safe, equitable, and positive climate and social culture for all students.
