- Adopted a staff directive to conduct an overview of law enforcement recruiting, hiring and retention practices.
- Authorized a collective bargaining agreement with Laborers Local #363 for 2024-2026.
- Received a presentation by the Race Equity Inclusion and Belonging Department (REIB) as an update of current work and status of efforts.
- Director Prince Corbett noted that it was his recommendation that if the city wished to pursue a Truth and Reconciliation process, the Civil Rights Department would be better suited to that work.
- Noted that the department was working on a system to better track and review REIAs (Racial Equity Impact Analysis), a tool used to identify equity impacts of council actions. Noted that REIB is working on forming Racial Equity Action Teams (REATs) to develop a Racial Equity Action Plan (REAP) specific to that department.
